Athens Bone and Joint Orthopedic Clinic offers orthopedic surgery (relieving joint pain - shoulder pain, elbow pain, knee pain, hip pain, foot pain), sports medicine (ACL tear, Mensicus tears, Labral tears) and total joint replacement including hand (carpal tunnel) and foot surgery (bunions and plantar fascitis) and fracture care as well. Dr. Dorris, Dr. Bacastow and Dr. Ryan each have an individual orthopedic interest in the treatment of shoulder and knee problems. Dr. Dorris, in addition, has specialty training in Sports Medicine.
Locally, Dr. Dorris served for seven years as a team doctor for The University of Georgia. In addition to working with a wide spectrum of student athletes, he traveled with the football team for three years.
A key interest for Dr. Dorris is in the area of joint replacement. "We're working on developing a longer lasting and better performing knee prosthesis," he says of his partnership with DJO Global, Inc., based out of Vista, California.
Dr. Bacastow has a special interest in the design of instumentation for Shoulder Arthroscopy. He is also and active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
